Access to Canadian Government information and services is a right afforded to all Canadians under the provisions of Section 15 of the Canadian Charter of
Rights and Freedoms:
“Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability.”
The Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians (AEBC)is calling upon the Government of Canada to ensure that all information and services offered through Federal Government websites be made to comply with WCAG 2.0 guidelines by December 31, 2010.
